Things to Check Before Calling for Sump Pump Service
It is a good idea to check the operation of your sump pump system before you have issues with basement flooding. Sometimes, an accumulation of silt in the bottom of the pit can affect operation of the pump. A malfunctioning float switch can also cause problems turning on the pump when water rises. Or you may need to replace an old or corroded pump. No matter what the circumstance, help is here!
Here are a few quick things you can check before calling our team for sump pump service:

Plump is Constantly Running
If you notice a humming noise from the sump pump motor constantly running even though it has not rained for days, there is probably an issue. Constant operation can greatly reduce the lifespan of your pump or lead to its complete failure. The fix could be as simple as malfunctioning float switch, or it might be an issue that requires pump replacement.

Faulty Float Switch
The float switch turns the sump pump on and off depending on the water level in the sump pit. Sometimes the switch can hang up, caused by sediment build up or corroded hardware. If cleaning out the pit does not help, either the float switch or the entire pump might need to be replaced.

Power Outages in my area
You need your sump pump to work during storms. Unfortunately, power outages often happen during storms, exactly when you need your pump to work. We can solve this problem by installing a sump pump with a battery backup system.

Loud Noises or Smells
All sump pits should have a sealed cover. Otherwise, unpleasant smells or noises can escape. Our team can install a sealed sump pit to take care of these problems.
Did any of these suggestions fix your sump pump issues? If not, do not hesitate to give us a call. From sump pump repairs to full installs, we have the expertise to handle any plumbing repair job.
